Your Current Hand
If you grew up in the Philippines, you almost certainly played Tongits at some point — at family gatherings, during barangay fiestas, on lazy Sunday afternoons with neighbours. It's one of those games that's deeply woven into Filipino culture, and for good reason: it's exciting, it rewards skill, and every session plays out differently.
Tongits is a three-player card game played with a standard 52-card deck. The goal is simple: get rid of all your cards by forming valid combinations — called melds — or by having the lowest total point value in your hand when the pot is called. The interplay of drawing, discarding, and calling opponents is what makes it addictive. One wrong move can flip the whole game.
On okay beth, Tongits is fully digitalised but keeps all the authentic rules and tension Filipino players know. You're matched against real human opponents from across the Philippines — not bots, not scripted AI — and every game plays out in real time. The stakes are real, the wins are real, and the payout hits your GCash wallet within minutes.
"Tongits is not just a card game for us — it's a tradition. Seeing it on okay beth with actual cash prizes, smooth gameplay, and real opponents felt like the natural next step. I've been playing here every night since."

Whether you're new to the game or just need a quick refresher before jumping into okay beth, here's everything you need.
Tongits is played by exactly three players. On okay beth, you're matched with two real Filipino opponents — no bots. Each player competes independently for the pot.
One standard 52-card deck is used. Card values: numbered cards count at face value; face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10 points; Aces are worth 1 point.
The dealer receives 13 cards. The other two players each receive 12 cards. The remaining cards form the central draw pile (the stockpile).
Empty your hand completely by melding cards, OR have the lowest total hand value when the game ends. Both paths can win — strategy determines which you pursue.
On your turn, draw one card from the stockpile or pick up the top discard. You may then lay down valid melds from your hand. Finally, discard one card to end your turn.
Lay down sets (three or more cards of the same rank) or sequences (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit). Melds reduce your hand's point total.
You can add cards to an opponent's existing meld — called "hitting" — to get rid of cards from your hand. This is a key tactical option that skilled okay beth players use often.
Any player can "call" at any point during their turn if they believe they have the lowest hand. All players reveal their remaining cards and the lowest total wins.
| Combination | Description | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Three of a Kind | Three cards of the same rank | 7♥ 7♦ 7♠ | Minimum meld; very common opener |
| Four of a Kind | All four cards of the same rank | K♥ K♦ K♠ K♣ | Strongest set meld available |
| Sequence (3) | Three consecutive same-suit cards | 5♦ 6♦ 7♦ | Can be extended with hits |
| Sequence (4+) | Four or more consecutive same-suit | 3♣ 4♣ 5♣ 6♣ | Longer runs accelerate hand emptying |
| Tongits! | All 12/13 cards melded — instant win | Full hand melded | Highest win condition — earns a bonus pot multiplier |
You declare Tongits when you've successfully melded all your cards. This is an automatic win — the round ends immediately and you collect the full pot plus a bonus multiplier.
If you believe your remaining hand value is lower than both opponents, call the pot. All three players reveal their cards. The player with the lowest total unmelded value wins.
If the draw pile runs out before anyone wins, all players compare their unmelded hand values. The lowest total wins the pot — making the whole game a tension-filled calculation.
If the called player loses the challenge — meaning another player actually has a lower count — the challenger wins a penalty bonus from the pot. Bluffing is part of the game!
Tongits is a game of skill as much as luck. Here's how experienced okay beth players sharpen their edge.
The discard pile tells you what other players are holding and what they don't need. Track what's been thrown away to understand which melds are still possible — and which to abandon.
If you can't form a meld with your face cards, discard them early. Kings, Queens, and Jacks are worth 10 points each — holding them when the pot is called can cost you the round significantly.
Hitting an opponent's meld gets rid of your cards faster, but it also helps them progress toward an empty hand. Use hits when the card would otherwise be dead weight in your hand.
Calling the pot when you're not the lowest hand is one of the most costly mistakes in Tongits. On okay beth, always count your remaining point total carefully before making the call.
